An Eternal While

Aug. 4, 2003

So many shelves of books
Sit and stare at me
A whole wide world of knowledge
At my fingertips for free

A very fine fountain pen
Is ready for my flow
A cool summer breeze is calling
But I think I shall not go

My eyes are hanging heavy
My thoughts they drift away
From these waves of whine and words
To a love that threatened not to stay

Then I knew
Then I knew
Then I knew
What it means
To be broken

To love is to burden
And be burdened back again
The weary weight we share
May seem too heavy now and then

But it is a blessing that we bear
That helps us glide with grace
To know that with each morning
Comes another dawn upon love's face

So come and dance with me
Let us dance an eternal while
Tell me what makes a marriage
But a memory and a smile
