The Future is Calling
June 9, 2000
The future is calling
And it won't stop 'til you answer
It has a heart like a hero
And a soul like a dancer
Can you hear it in the lake breeze
That blows by on summer nights?
Can you hear it in the brilliance
That buzzes through neon lights?
You've walked a long and ragged road
With the past still close behind
You want the strength to carry on
And you need some peace of mind
The memories flood and leave
You soaked upon the floor
You don't want to let them go
And you yearn for something more
The questions they race through you:
Where are you going, where've you been?
They speed through like a comet:
What's your virtue, what's your sin?
The future is calling
And it won't stop 'til you answer
It hopes for happy endings
It dreams like a romancer
Can you hear it on the streets
As the cars go whizzing by?
Can you hear it in the voices
Of the vendors selling lies?
The city sky is burning
And the summer night is yearning
With the light of countless stars
"If you don't believe there's a price
For this sweet paradise
Just remind me to show you the scars" *
You can make your future
You can keep your past
If you remember in your mind
That your love will always last
