Now to Work
May 20, 2002
I took a shower in the dark
As the sun slept
I sang along silently to the songs
Inside my head
I shampooed and rinsed
And washed a thousand parts
Some twice
The warm water hit my head
And ran down my legs
Scrambling for the drain
I hate the shiver that greets me
When I step out of the shower
It loves me
I toweled myself off
And turned to preening
A stick, a swab, a brush
It felt nice to be back in clothes
To smell nice
To have hair combed
Now to work
