Yeah, this is the time of year
When they're shuttin' down the banks
No, there's not much cause to fear
They've stopped the rollin' of the tanks

Yeah, we've finally got a break
From those tiresome party platform planks
Yes, they've stopped the burnings at the stake
So now's the time to stop and give our thanks

So here's to all that's good in life
Like movies that star Tom Hanks
Here's to all that gets us through the strife
Like tests without any fill-in-the-blanks

Here's to all that's good and decent
Like folks who get along despite the cranks
Here's to heroes historic and even recent
Like any team that can finally beat the Yanks

But most of all here's to my one and only baby
For lovin' me despite all the clinks and clanks
For lovin' me wholly and not just maybe
And for givin' me good cause to give these thanks
