Until Then

March 8, 1999

How badly I want to feel you — that, I cannot say
But it seems that we must wait for yet another day
A thousand miles of plainland keep us so far apart
But they could never keep you out of my burning heart

Yes, I must wait to hold you in my arms
Where you'd be setting off my fire alarms
And I must bite my lip with expectation
For you, the object of my flotation

But until then, I'll keep you in my mind
And hold you there so you can shine
Like a million midnight stars
Above all the lonely men in bars

And until then, I'll have you in my dreams
Where passion boils and craving steams
And hold you close across a thousand thrilling threads
Waiting anxiously for the day that we touch heads

So until then, my darling, don't let us go astray
Let us stay together 'til we greet that glorious day
And I swear upon the graves of a hundred love-struck men
Not to let you linger loveless any longer until then
