Then You Found Me
Aug. 23, 1999
The world was dark and I was lost
And like the planets I'd been tossed
To and fro without regret
By exactly who I don't know yet
My eyes saw nothing but despair
And a pain no man would want to share
I was cast adrift in a sea of humiliation
Robbed blind of any great expectation
I was talked at, drugged up, holed up
Fucked up, shut up and wound up
I was beat down, run around by the sound
Of my own doubt I was nowhere bound
Then you found me and you did surround me
With your lightning love so joyous and free
You gave me cause for hope I never knew
You showed me beauty I saw the world anew
Where I saw black, where I saw blue
I now see green I now see you
Where I felt pain and where I was trapped
I now feel free the pain's been scrapped
Now I take each breath so it can be treasured
Where once I held it so it could be measured
I was alone in life and alone in deed
But by your love, I've now been freed
I was trudging through without a point
I was just about ready to split this joint
But now I'm walkin' down a brighter avenue
Lit by the shine in your eyes and my love for you
